Dozens of Papuan community leaders, consisting of ethnic leaders, youth leaders and religious leaders, conducted a peaceful demonstration to support the continuation of Special Autonomy (Otsus) at the Wenehule Huby Autonomy Office, Wamena District, Jayawijaya Regency.
In this action the participants conveyed their aspirations regarding the continuation of special autonomy and a statement letter addressed to the Jayawijaya Regional Government so that the special autonomy which has been running for 20 years should be continued in Papua.
Alex Doga, Jayawijaya Veteran Figure representing the community expressed his support for the implementation of special autonomy in Papua because he thinks that special autonomy has provided many benefits for development in all fields in Papua.
Today we as community leaders, religious leaders, warriors, youth leaders, women community, we are here at the regent’s office to convey our aspirations that we all support special autonomy , “said Alex Doga, to journalists.
There are those who want to refuse special autonomy , but I represent the society, I support this development, I am very grateful to the government for the development, thanks to the regent, governor and the president, “he said.
The 1 hour peaceful demonstration was led by Mr. Carlos Huby from Lembaga Masyarakat Adat (LMA), Sili Gombo from Barisan Merah Putih (BMP), Alek Silo Karno Doga from the Penentuan Pendapat Rakyat (Pepera), Hengky Heselo from representatives of the major tribal chiefs of Kurima district, Arnold Haselo representing youth leaders, Aser Huby representing religious leaders.
